I have it from a good source that in 1776 the British marched up Bethlehem Pike from Chestnut Hill through Flourtown. The officers stopped for refreshment at The Wheel Pump and Black Horse Tavern.
If only the Flourtown Farmers Market was around then. It opened in 1986. The farmers market is accessible from the rear of the building. Look for the sign that says Chesney Commons. Go in the driveway past CVS and make a right turn.
A visit to the Flourtown Farmers Market is like taking a ride to see an old friend...and coming home with ingredients for a meal or the meal itself. Everyone is friendly and many of them have items to taste. They will warm a meal, slice a bread or prepare soup for 30 if that is what you need.
